Here's your workhorse 3Com PCI Ethernet Card. Electronics give off the worst stinks of all the things we microwave. This created a small fire and a few sparks and zapping sounds, but the really interesting part was how the energy was concentrated on the point where the card touched the Pyrex pie plate. The pie plate is quite thick, but the heat resulted in a substantial pit in the plate. I took a few pictures immediately after the fire went out, then left the whole thing to cool off before trying to clean it up. A few minutes later, I hear an unusual sound from my garage like a small crash, but I couldn't figure out where it came from or what it was. When I finally return to the microwave oven to clean it out, I find that the Pyrex pie plate had shattered! Check out the pictures at the bottom. The curves and patterns of the cracks are almost like a work of art! Notice too how thick the pie plate is.
